Spring Home Tour Part 1

I am beyond excited to be welcoming spring into our home! Come hang out in our kitchen and dining room today.

I finally got an orchid to re-bloom! I am so excited. Maybe I don't have a black thumb after all!

Confession: When we put the first stroke of paint on the wall I suddenly got very nervous that my Blue Willow dishes and other blue and white items would look horrible against the navy. But I kept painting anyways. After we got one or two painted I propped up some dishes in the built ins and it sealed the deal! I love it!

Color used: SW Naval

I've said it many times before, but here it goes again... I am in love with this custom sign from House of Belonging. The navy writing is almost the same color as the navy in the built ins.

I finally changed up the bar cart! Its been the same way for over a month, which it a long time for me. The las time I decorated it was for my 25th birthday

My favorite tea towels!! They were from Zara Home last year.

This piece has been in our family for quite a long time, and it finally made its way into Our Magnolia Home's kitchen last year! I am so thankful for all of the extra storage it provides. It also matches out cabinets very well, so no paint brushes are touching this!

I try my best to keep the kitchen decor to a minimum since our kitchen is oddly disproportionate. We have a large peninsula with ample counter space, but the counter space by the oven is tiny in comparison. So, I do my best to keep this space as organized as possible.

This tray has been perfect for keeping the essentials together.

Easter Tablescape

Well, I am a little late getting our table set for Easter since KJ's birthday fell on Good Friday this year. We hosted his family Friday night to celebrate another year of his precious life! After all the celebrating was over, I got up Saturday morning and put together a last minuet Easter setting.

I love these little bunnies, and I don't think I'm quite ready to put them away. I might keep them out and move them around the house for now.

How cute are these glitter eggs?! There are a target find a few weeks ago and came in a back of 10 different colors.

I hope that y'all had a wonderful Easter Sunday! We had a sweet day with family. Easter service, lunch and an egg hunt made for the perfect Sunday together with family.

Believe it or not, there are 40 tulips in this planter! I found these beauties on Good Friday. They are still looking beautiful. I used a few in my Instagram post here

I hope that y'all have a wonderful week!!

He is Risen!

Luke 24: 6-7 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

Acts 3:15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.

1 Corinthians 15:3-5 Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day.

Mark 16: 5-7 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”

Happy Easter, Friends! I hope that you have a blessed day celebrating with your family and remembering the true meaning for the day!! Christ is Risen, indeed!

KJ's Birthday Tablescape

With all that has gone on this past month, I wanted to do a little something extra special for KJ's birthday. He didn't want to go out and make a big fuss out of it, so we are making some of his favorites at home. Last year, we covered him in silly string after he blew out his candles. Now that was a fun moment I don't think he will forget.

I tried to make a somewhat manly tablescape, but lets be honest, is there really such thing as a manly tablescape? Guess it is a good thing I got these dishes for Christmas!

These hunting dog glasses are my favorite. I found them at a thrift store a few years ago and used them for father's day every year since then. I love the way they look with the Spode Woodland dishes.

I tried to use a table runner to make it feel more grounded, but instead it made it look for girly. I think the bare table gave it a more manly look. I hope he enjoys eating here as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

Spring Cleaning with Mrs. Meyers

Springtime is here!

Well, I don't think that we ever had a winter this year. But the beginning of spring comes pretty blooms, and the return of Mrs. Meyers peony scented cleaning products.

This year I am going to stock up, so that I can ration these out until next spring. If you have smelled these yet, run to your nearest Target! You will thank yourself later.

Our dishes have never smelled better!!

Bonus way that I love to use Mrs Meyers peony scent, is with the laundry scent boost. But I don't use it in the laundry! Instead I dissolve some of it into a spray bottle and spritz it on the carpet, furniture, blankets and so much more to add a hint of springtime.

Happy Springtime, Friends!!

A Month of Learning

It has been about a month since I wrote my last post. These past 2 weeks have been a roller coaster ride of highs and lows. There have been celebrations, death, job promotions, birthdays, and so many emotions it is hard to describe them all. These past 4 weeks have taught me a lot about faith, family, marriage and the briefness of life. Life looks different than it did on February 12, 2016 when I published my last post.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this post, captioned: "As much as it embarrasses me to admit it, I struggle with contentment. But last night, I was peeling shrimp for dinner and watching the birds in our backyard and a feeling of complete contentment came over me. I love our little house. I love being a wife and a homemaker. But I often fall prey to the media supported perfect looking staged life and I want that.

Today is a new day full of grace, contentment and love in #OurMagnoliaHome!"

I struggle with contentment on a daily basis. There have been many a times that I have given into that discontentment and did/bought something that I thought would make me content, but it never did. The human, fallen side of me has no desire to attempt to be content in what I have, and I have closets full of stuff to prove that fact. But the Lord commands us in Hebrews 13:5: Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

This past month, I have learned so much about contentment and the peace that contentment in the Lord can bring. It is such a wonderful feeling. Lord willing, I hope to share more in the next coming weeks with the hopes of helping another wife or homemaker in her struggle with contentment.

Thank you to all my wonderful readers and followers. I am blessed to have each of you along in my journey of Our Magnolia Home.
