Home Office.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to begin working from home. At first I thought that I would be bored, lonely and miss all of the human interaction at the office. As it turns out, I haven't really missed it! When I was given the news that I would be able to work from home, the first thing I thought of was that I needed to get an office together so that I have a comfortable space to work. Our home has a dedicated office, but that is KJ's space and I knew we would not be able to share.

Since we have 2 spare rooms, I took over one and turned it into an office, while the other remained a quaint guest room! The office had to be an inviting and causal space that I could easily spend 40+ hours a week in! Not only do I spend lots of time in here, but my lab, Bailee spends the days sleeping under the desk on her bed. I would say she feels quite at home!

It is coming along nicely, and I wanted to share a little update! Most of the items in the office were things I had around the house. Some items I repurposed and changed them from their normal use to cute and functional items in my office! However, I am most proud of the desk. My dad and I built the desk from scratch based off a photo I found on Pinterest.

The desk is HUGE, and by huge I mean 7 feet long and 3 feet deep.  But I wanted to make sure I had plenty of space regardless what I was working on. I wanted to keep it simple so there weren't too many distractions. The natural light makes the room so much brighter!

Bailee is napping away down there! Sometimes she is so quiet that I forget she is there!

Here are a few details of the desk:

I have this candle lit everyday! Its hard to work without it now.

The silver tray belonged to my grandmother and I am blessed to have it now. I love the dimension that the basket on the wall adds! One of my biggest tips from hanging items not the wall that aren't super heavy is to use command strips! They are a wall saver!

The main purpose of the side table is to keep my work phone on, but who says it can't be cute!

Distressed furniture is the theme in the office! I got the side table and goodwill and sanded it after I painted it white.

Here are a few of the items that I repurposed for the office.

This was a Starbucks iced coffee bottle. After drinking it, I washed it out, took the label and added flowers! I love the old style milk bottle look that it has!

This is a fruit stand, but it is too tall to fit underneath the upper cabinets in the kitchen so it is now adorning the office desk! The cross-stitch "A" was a bridesmaid gift that I received and I love it! While the cream flowers are from our wedding!

I love to use cake stands other than just for cakes. It adds interest and gives the touch of elevation to add definition to these items!

Try to find something in your home and use it in an expected way! Let me know how it turns out! I would love to see it! Do you have a home office? If so what is your inspiration for your office?

  2. You may consider making your whiteboard mobile rather than fixed to ensure that it is available to many to share rather than to one single, elite user. If your whiteboard is fixed you may consider adding wheels or costars to your list of whiteboard accessories. In this way you can share the love and ensure it is available to all and sundry. business accessories
